As Bishop Thomas shared in his Leading the Flock, Pope Leo XIV has proclaimed a Year of St. Francis to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the saint’s death. During this time of grace, which extends through January 2027, the faithful have the opportunity to obtain a plenary indulgence.

Bishop Thomas has designated three Franciscan Pilgrimage Sites in the Diocese of Toledo for the faithful to visit in prayer:

• The Portiuncula on the Motherhouse grounds of the Sylvania Franciscans
• The Motherhouse Eucharistic Chapel on the grounds of the Tiffin Franciscans
• The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey.
